Race demon Matthew Street is on his way to becoming a future world champion.
The 19 year old racer from Moorside has been karting since he was 12 years old and hopes one day to be become the British Touring Car Champion.
As one of the finalists of the Blair Project Rising Star competition; which gave three racers from less-wealthy families the chance to win a fully-funded season in their chosen MotorSport. Matthew now races in association with Team Blair Racing.
Matthew has raced in a number of karting championships such as Club 100 & BUKC. Matthew is now 6.4ft and weighs over 100kg with all his racing gear on, so due to his height and weigh Matty has branched off from most of the other drivers and has set his sights in competiting in the MSVT Championship driving a Honda Type R which is being prepared by Wigan and Leigh collage.
“I never in my wildest dreams, thought I would ever get an opportunity like this. This means the absolute world to me. I really to become a professional racing driver and The Blair Project has given me this platform” Matthew said.
The 19 year old thrives off a good challenge and enjoys racing against other drivers, where he has to test his skills.
Matty is also a driver coach and has wrote and delivered and number of driver development programs for young katers aged between 8-16 years. as a result of his coaching talents matty is now also the official instructor for The Blair Project Girls In Motorsport campaign, which aims to get more girls competing in grass roots motorsport.
So look out for Matthew racing in 2016.
