I make sure that I dedicate a few hours a week, every week, to personal development. I read a lot, an average of three books a month, and I spend a lot of time making sure that I’m personally working on things for myself. I believe that if you’re growing yourself, you’re growing your business naturally anyway. So i think it’s really important.
Actually, I think self-development and personal development is one of the biggest things that a business owner shouldn’t neglect. Mindset is everything. No matter what you do, what situation you’re in, it’s how you react to it.
Life is 20% what happens to you, and 80% how you react. Understanding more about how to have a positive mindset in situations, it’s not just the toxic positivity that’s out there. I don’t believe you should just be positive about every single situation. But it is about learning to reframe situations – that’s a super powerful tool. When something bad does happen, you have to see the good in it. All the worst things that have happened to me in my life have turned out to be good in some way or other, and you don’t realise at the time. You think it’s terrible, but something good leads on from that.
It’s knowing that’s going to happen that’s really important.
