Wigan & Leigh MotorTec is a new student race team giving young people aged 14+ the exciti
ng opportunity to become part of a car racing team, and learn automotive and engineering skills.
Mentored by a team of experienced race mechanics & engineers, these enthusiastic young people are transforming 3 x road cars into lean mean racing machines, able to compete with the best in the MSVT Championships, and racing at prestigious circuits like Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
The team is a partnership between The Blair project, Wigan & Leigh College and BPA Autocentre in Leigh. Together we are building a team to give young people the experience of organising and completing a project with time, money, and quality constraints, (under strict supervision). Our aim is to teach young people about teamwork, logistics, engineering and component manufacturing. And raise levels of aspiration and educational attainment – ‘Yes We Can!’
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
